What's next? -- updated 10 November 2017

Hurricane Harvey - Aug 24 (regained hurricane status) - Sep 1 Mexico Earthquake 8.1 -- Sep 7 Hurricane Irma -- Aug 30 (developed) - Sep 16 (most damages Sep 7-11) Hurricane Maria -- Sep 18 - 30 (struck Puerto Rico Sep 20) Mexico earthquake 7.1 (after shock from the 8.1) -- Sep 19 Las Vegas Shooting -- Oct 1, 2017 Wildfires in California -- Oct 10- (the above list is not complete) The wildfires are getting under control. So... What's next? I say this because it seems something big happens about every week or two since the eclipse. My guess, probably another earthquake. Seeing as California has its Great Shake-out earthquake drill yesterday (10/19/2017), they may be the most likely to get a quake. But there has been some other unusual tremor activity. Maybe we'll get a few weeks (or longer) with a break. Although if you look at news around the world, there are a lot of disasters which go unreported in the US. --update 10 November 2017 When I wrote the abov

Energy of Heart

Moroni 7:48 (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/moro/7?lang=eng) "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, a pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true b followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall c be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be d purified even as he is pure. Amen." Several months ago I caught the nuance of the wording in this verse. Before, my mind would generally interpret the statement as "pray unto the Father with all the energy of your heart" But it says, "all the energy of heart" which is interesting. It implies that the heart is more than a blood pump. It supplies energy to the body. This is also one of the few verses I've been able to able to find with the word "energy," which is "power exerted" ( http://we

Anger, the tipping point of Pride to Destruction

Yesterday (10/15/2017) I gave a talk in sacrament meeting. The following is the text from the talk. The actual talk was mostly what follows, although I did make a few minor changes or additions on-the-fly so I wasn't reading the talk the whole time. ------ As I’m sure many of you who have, or have had, young children in your home while trying to watch and listen to conference, you know that it can be a challenge. It’s a challenge for kids to get through four general sessions of conference. It’s a challenge to keep the children entertained in a quiet activity so you can get something out of most, or at least some, of the talks. Too often the reality is when the session is done, you may be trying to remember who actually spoke, not to mention what they might have said. After two days, four sessions of two hours each, it can feel like herding cats. Interestingly, the word “session” has its origin in Old French which refers to the “act or state of sitting,” and the

Halloween -- updated 10 Nov 2017

Halloween. It used to be one of my favorite holidays. I had quite the elaborate setup, with a tunnel, dragon, smoke machines. At times I had a dementor hanging overhead. The last several times I set things up, I used a projector to projector flames on the side of the house. My brother would often come to help out. We had a lot of fun. The beginnings happened years before my mission. Our family would get into the fun of decorating, and making a fun spook house. We (and I) have never been into any of the horror, terror, blood, etc. so it was all about having fun, with a little bit of a scare. It continued after I graduated from college. First as I helped make a corn maze into a more Halloween event. Then it started to really grow when I was taking care of my parents home while they were overseas. I came up with new ideas and built new things. This continued through the early 2000's After getting married, the first couple years was as I described in the first paragraph. I'

Another change in the BSA (updated 10/17/2017)

It was an expected change for the Boy Scouts of America, to begin allowing girls into its programs. https://www.ksl.com/?sid=46125082&nid=157&title=in-historic-change-boy-scouts-to-let-girls-in-some-programs Beginning in 2018 (coincidentally when the LDS Church will stop registering its older boys--14 and older--in Varsity and Venture units), the BSA will allow for girls in Cub Scouting, in all-girls dens. The Packs, at the option of the chartering organization, can have either single gender or have dens of both genders. But despite what the BSA may claim, the primary reason for this change is financial. From the mentioned article on KSL: "The Girl Scouts of the USA criticized the initiative, saying it strained the century-old bond between the two organizations. Girl Scout officials have suggested the BSA's move was driven partly by financial problems and a need to boost revenue. "In August, the president of the Girl Scouts accused the Boy Scouts of seek

"Our nation cannot continue on its current path"

Image
A couple of weeks ago we received this letter from senator Orrin Hatch. I've removed the addressee information. Senator Hatch is correct. We need more civility. The reason I've decided to include this letter is a phrase from a statement about mid-page on the first page, which states, "one thing is certain: Our nation cannot continue on its current path." He then states that we either "remain passive observers to the problem, or endeavor to act, to make the necessary changes--in ourselves, in our families, and in our communities--that will lead to a more civil, prosperous society." He is right in that we need to act if things are to change for the better. However, he leaves out what happens if we remain passive observers to the problem, or, more correctly, what happens if the change back to civility doesn't happen. "Our nation cannot continue on its current path" is more ominous than the diplomatic tone of the letter tries to maintai

North Korea and the Start of World War III

Many people think North Korea and America are about to start World War III. With the escalating war of words between Trump and Kim Jung Un, and North Korea's persistence in pursuing full nuclear capabilities, it does appear likely. However, will the US go to war with North Korea without the consent of South Korea? From everything I've read, while South Korea is not a fan of the North's pursuit of becoming a nuclear power, the South has no desire to go to war. They seem to prefer a nuclear North if it means no war. Without the South's support, it is unlikely the US will go to war. Some think Kim will launch a nuclear missile at Guam, Hawaii, or even the US mainland. That may be a possibility, but it is unlikely. What is more likely is for the North to continue its sabre-rattling, and to continue brandishing its nuclear prowess with more tests and launches. Without South Korea's support, it is highly unlikely the US will launch any kind of preemptive strik

Another possibility to swing the 2018 election

In several earlier posts I've postulated the possibility of a stock market crash, a market correction if you will, happening in 2018 as a possible influence to sway voters into electing more Democrats/liberals into office, and possibly gain the majority of one or more houses of Congress. My guess is the globalists know that economic conditions are ripe for an economic downturn. Some may not believe it could be a depression, at least not at first. But, there is the real likelihood, and I think the globalists are probably very cautious about disrupting the market when they aren't ready for the unpredictable outcome. Here are some of the things my research has indicated about the globalists (deep state, Gadiantons, those involved with the conspiracies to overthrow the country): They want to have control of when the financial market crashes, so they can reap the greatest financial rewards. They know they can't control all factors, and so they will probably be very cauti

Correlation and causation: guns and violence

The largest mass shooting in America (so far) happened last night in Las Vegas. Societal and political commentaries are once again spotlighting guns. If you read the various articles, the pro-control articles characteristically point to how the United States has more guns per capita than any other country, and how there are so many more gun-related crimes, violence, and murders than in countries with fewer guns. Some articles might actually mention how there aren't more murders per capita, as there are other countries that surpass the US. But all of these articles, and all of gun control advocates, fall into the statistics error where they believe correlation is causation. That is they believe more guns equates to more gun violence, and they believe that less guns must equate to less gun violence. While it may be a fact to consider that fewer guns might reasonably mean fewer crimes, murders, violence, etc. which would involve a gun, it does not mean less guns equates to
