The drought worsens in Utah

Image
While this article is not about the drought, it does mention the drought is worsening. https://www.ksl.com/article/46351736/amid-worsening-drought-utah-governor-urges-caution-with-fireworks-campfires The most severe places of drought are in the southeast of Utah and it's spreading north. Did the drought start in the far southwest, and is it proceeding northward? Some of the statements attributed to John Koyle state: "Weather pattern changes would be seen to the far south-west. Drought would proceed northward year by year increasing in intensity until reaching the valleys of Utah. At that time the troubles were to start in the valleys. The drought would then head east, increasing in intensity." Are we in the beginning the the drought, right before it, is it still in the future, or was it in the past? Personally, I don't think Koyle's prophesy was of any drought situation that has past. I think the real question is whether we are about the begin o

The Regulating of the Second Amendment

Maybe you might remember when I've mentioned how one of the tactics to restrict and regulate guns would involve money? Basically one of the methods of attacking the 2nd Amendment is to make it more difficult and more expensive to be a gun owner. Well, here's a couple of articles: Gun industry sees banks as new threat to 2nd Amendment  https://www.ksl.com/article/46348633/gun-industry-sees-banks-as-new-threat-to-2nd-amendment Gun industry noticing new trend affecting their business https://www.ksl.com/article/46351409/gun-industry-noticing-new-trend-affecting-their-business Here's the sum of the articles. "Many big banks and payment processing firms are deciding not to handle, or restrict, transactions dealing with gun companies." Said a gun store owner, "“If they find out it’s a gun sale, they usually just try to cancel your merchant account and start all over again. When they shut down your bank account, you can’t even take checks. You can’t take

Comments about Professor Millet's Second Coming Articles

About a month ago I read an article on LDS Living by Robert L. Millet. He's a Professor Emeritus of Ancient Scripture at Brigham Young University. Last September I'd read another of his articles, titled 5 Second Coming Myths and the Truth Behind Them , also on LDS Living. This article, found at http://www.ldsliving.com/5-Second-Coming-Myths-and-the-Truth-Behind-Them/s/76618?utm_source=ldsliving&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=popular&utm_content=pop2170915 , I thought was really good. Here is the majority of his article, along with some highlights and comments of mine: Myth #1: Every person on earth will have heard the message of the restored gospel before the Lord returns in glory.   I suppose this idea has spread because of the Savior’s declaration on the Mount of Olives: “And again, this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked” (Joseph Sm

A Possible Sequencing of Events to the Second Coming

I wish Koyle, or someone close to him, had written all his prophesies instead of those prophesies being collected at a later time. I've read through them several times and tried to put together a sequence. I've even shared my thoughts with family, a few others, and on my own blog several times over the past couple years. I've read a number of drought reports over the same time period, and watched how drought conditions have spread. Yes, there has been some recovery in some places (like California after the snowy 2016-17 winter) but drought conditions have almost all returned (places in CA never got out of drought, and, according to the US drought monitor, most of southern CA is heading into severe drought). It is highly likely we are at the beginning of the drought/famine. Koyle talked about a 4-year drought/famine in Utah but it would be a 7-year process for the nation, with about 3.5 years going in to the worst, and another 3+ years coming out of it. If that's t

Another display of Pride

Yesterday, on Sunday, was the 43rd annual Utah Pride Parade. https://www.ksl.com/article/46333123/100000-turn-out-for-43rd-annual-utah-pride-parade-to-celebrate-acceptance-organizers-say Apparently, a record-breaking 100,000 people attended. It should be clear from past posts that I believe nobody should be discriminated against for things like work and housing, and we should love everyone as children of God. While the LGBTQ+ are free to do as they choose in the privacy of their own homes, their choice of lifestyle does not change God's commandments of morality. We can love the people, but still not support the immorality they choose to follow. While many of the LGBTQ+ community will claim otherwise, I believe the movement to make immorality socially acceptable--and in some cases actually taught in schools to be acceptable and normal--is damaging to traditional families. It is destabilizing the God-fearing, moral foundations the country was founded on. I do not agree with th

A Case in the Future

In the next 2-4 years, we will most likely see a similar case to the Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Only that case will end in favor of the same-sex couple. After the Supreme Court becomes overtly liberal (most likely in 2021), there will a be number of cases that will challenge Constitutional freedoms and rights. Another case similar to the Colorado baker refusing to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple will be ruled on. With a victory to the same-sex couple, similar cases will follow. One of the cases which will probably follow (maybe as much as within the next year or two, 2021-23) will be a marriage case, where a same-sex couple wants to be married in a church and is refused. This is the type of case that could lead to the government forcing churches to marry any legally recognized couple, or the church could face legal repercussions, like loss of tax-exempt status. We may see the beginnings of such a case in 2019 or 2020, particul

Some What-ifs...related to the Supreme Court

Now for some what ifs regarding the Supreme Court. What if the liberals gain a majority in both houses of Congress? What if a bad recession or depression hits by the end of 2019, or beginning of 2020, and a liberal/Democrat/socialist becomes president? What will happen to the Supreme Court justices? I believe a few are looking at retirement. Are they waiting to see what happens to in the next presidential term? If a liberal president is voted in, will we see multiple justices be appointed within a short time? In several posts I've laid out some possible presidential scenarios. Here is one, with the Supreme Court added in: 2018 -- mid-term elections. Democrats win majority in one (or both) houses of Congress. There is a possibility that Justice Kennedy will retire in summer 2018. If he does, a conservative judge will likely replace him. But if he doesn't retire in 2018, and Democrats gain a majority in one or both houses of Congress, then a conservative replacement b

A Victory for Religious Beliefs...if only brief

In a ruling 7-2, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a baker who, based on religious belief, refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. http://thehill.com/homenews/news/390531-supreme-court-sides-with-baker-in-same-sex-wedding-case For now, it seems the same-sex/LGBTQ+ movement will not be able to force any business to do business with those of their community. It is a victory for religious freedom. I doubt this would have happened if Hilary Clinton had become president. It was about a 5 year case. While it was a 7-2 ruling, not a narrow victory, it would seem that Justice Kennedy made the difference. While he was tough on both sides, he did express concern that while the same-sex side was pushing for tolerance, they did not exercise tolerance for the baker's religious beliefs. Something the news cited was Kennedy said, regarding future related cases, is "must await further elaboration." While it's a victory, it's only a temporary one. The
