Jacob 5 - Who is the Lord of the Vineyard? It may not be who you think.

This post was last updated, 6 October 2018. --------------------------------------------------- In the Book of Mormon, in chapter 5 of the book of Jacob ( Jacob 5 ), there is a fascinating allegory about an olive tree in a vineyard. As the olive tree gets older, branches start withering away and it looks like the tree is dying. The Lord (also called the master) of the vineyard prunes and nourishes the tree, but only a few "young and tender branches" (v. 6) grow, while the main part starts dying.  The Lord of the vineyard tells his servant to graft in some branches from a wild olive tree, in the hopes that it can strengthen the roots. The the servant is directed to "watch the tree, and nourish it" (v 12) while he takes the "young and tender branches (v. 8) and grafts them into other places throughout the vineyard. I won't go through the entire allegory, at least not at this point. First let's establish some things. First, the Earth is the

Should You Be Judged by What You Did 30+ Years Ago?

I haven't listened to all of the arguments concerning Brett Kavanaugh's alleged sexual assault over 36 years ago. This is what I know: Too much time, attention, energy, money, etc. have been spent on what did or did not happen over three decades ago. Personally, I think Kavanaugh is probably guilty of exceedingly gross misconduct. Did he actually do what he was accused of? It's very probable. But, while I am not trying to minimize or dismiss the misconduct almost everyone is missing the point of the confirmation hearings... Will Kavanaugh be a good justice and perform his Constitutional duties as a Supreme Court Justice? I want to know what he has done in the last 10-20 years. IF he did do what he was accused of, has his life been turned around? Is he better? Has he repented? If he really isn't any better than his high school, college freshman self, then that should be evident from the more recent (10-20 years) past and show he isn't fit for the job. But

The Survival of "Democracy"

I've read a number of articles citing how democracy is dying, or how Trump/Republicans are killing democracy. I've also read articles blaming the Constitution and electoral system for democracy's fall...usually because Trump got elected but didn't get the popular vote. First, for all those who support the LGBTQ+ cause/agenda--including the downfall of traditional marriage--the only reason LGBTQ+ had a chance to even get more mainstream acceptance was because the Constitution does a phenomenal job at protecting the minority by preventing them from the majority. In a real, true democracy the majority votes, the majority rules. LGBTQ+ would not have had any chance because they would not have had any protections. But, because the Constitutional rights of all are protected and because our system of government is not by absolute popular vote, those in minorities are protected. It certainly does not eliminate bullying, but our representation does a good job at slowin

What's Working Behind the Scenes?

While I think it's very likely Kavanaugh probably did what he was accused of, the questions are: Should these events from over 30 years ago affect his nomination now? Would these events prevent him from performing his duties as a judge? I don't think either should be the case. The facts that the allegations are from so long ago--even if they are true--and that they were not revealed until less than two months before the mid-term elections makes me believe there is absolute political motivation for revealing them. In past posts, I've mentioned how I did not think there would be an economic downturn for the mid-term elections because I think they (the deep state, globalists, powers behind the scenes, etc.) will want to save that card for closer to the presidential election. I don't think the globalists have absolute power over the economies of the nation or the earth. But, they do have considerable influence, and they do have a lot of power. However, because the

Supreme Court Nominee

I'm getting tired of the political theatrics constantly being played by the Democrats and the Republicans. Brett Kavanaugh seems like he would do a good job as a Supreme Court Justice. Did you really do what his accusers say he did, from so long ago? It's possible. Should events from over 30 years ago affect him now?  Maybe if they were within the last 10-15 years. I'm not minimizing the gravity of the accusations. It's unfortunate the accusers never filed any police reports or any complaints. And, it appears that the incidents all involved alcohol. Those who are "without sin" from over 30 years ago--in high school or early college--should be the ones who should throw their stones. But whether Kavanaugh did or did not do those things, what should be of greater importance is what he has been like during the last 10-15 years. That is more telling about how he will be on the Supreme Court. However, it's become a political s

Keeping busy

I've been trying to get a book about earthquakes and preparedness written...it's about 20 pages to completion of the draft. I also started back in graduate school, so my available time is limited.
