Priesthood Power Needed for A Coming Day
Although I do not think we have entered the real years of tribulation, the time is close. Natural disasters around the world (typhoons, floods, hail, fire, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.) are increasing. But, in my opinion, most of the disasters seem to be warnings rather than big judgments. Calls to repentance, and to humble those who are not too hard hearted. The judgments are coming.
In a similar way, the first big earthquake in Utah will be a warning. Spencer (in Visions of Glory), and others, mention this first quake, but the focus is on the mega-quake that will later occur.
It is my opinion that, while I don't think the big judgments will happen in the near future, we are coming to a time when it will become increasingly difficult to become prepared, and to build up food storage and supplies. Famine, drought, natural disasters, political and economic issues, and other factors will increasingly come into play.
Most likely most of us may only be able to maintain what we have--due to restrictions, shortages, inflation, etc.--and building up food storage and supplies won't be an option. It may even become difficult to maintain what we currently have.
In the scriptures we can read of famine being frequently used before big judgments, if the people don't humble themselves and repent. Maybe the California drought (in it's 4th year) will extend itself north and west.
Didn't John Koyle have some prophesies about a 4 year drought that would progressively get worse? And in the 5th year there would be rain, but not enough seed to have a big harvest? I don't think that has happened yet. But, with the hot summer in Utah (and other places), could we be seeing the beginning of that time?
I know there are many who believe things will happen sooner rather than later, and I would welcome that. It would be really nice to get onto the main event, the Second Coming. However, faith must be tested and I think part of that is things will likely happen at a later time than most believe. Which is one reason, I believe, many will say the "Lord delayeth his coming."
In any case, time is short to be prepared.
Our spiritual preparations must increase. We need to live by the Spirit, and learn to be guided daily by the Spirit. We need to learn to have mighty prayer. And those of us who are blessed to have the priesthood need to learn how to develop priesthood power.
I have read with particular interest President Nelson's conference address The Price of Priesthood Power (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2016/04/the-price-of-priesthood-power?lang=eng). Consider this small part of his talk:
"In a coming day, only those men who have taken their priesthood seriously, by diligently seeking to be taught by the Lord Himself, will be able to bless, guide, protect, strengthen, and heal others. Only a man who has paid the price for priesthood power will be able to bring miracles to those he loves and keep his marriage and family safe, now and throughout eternity."
