Is a generation of time equal to 1 God hour?
I have been slowing working my way through the many references to the Savior that are listed in the Topical Guide. It's what President Nelson suggested we do, I think it was the year before he became the prophet.
Anyway, today I was going through some of the references to the Davidic Descent of the Lord. That branched me off to looking up when Abraham lived because in the first chapter of Matthew it lists the Lord's genealogy, with the emphasis from king David to the Savior.
In Matt. 1:17 it identifies that it's 14 generations from Abraham to David, then 14 more generations to the Babylonian captivity, and another 14 from the captivity to the birth of Christ. All together that's 42 generations from Abraham to Christ.
It's interesting that 42 is multiple of 7.
So my studies led me to learn that Abraham was born about 2,000 BC.
2,000 years / 42 generations is about 47.6 years for each generation. That number sparked the memory of another similar number.
God's time is considered to be 1,000 of our years to one of his days. Or 1,000 years to 24 hours, or about 41.67 earth-years is 1 God-hour.
It's intriguing to me that 1 generation of time (47.6 years) is really close to 1 hour of Kolob time (41.8 earth years).
Has it been 42 generations since the birth of Christ to 2,000 AD?
Prior to the Great Flood, people lived hundreds of years, so the generation time is different. But after the flood lifespans began to short considerably. Abraham lived a long time (175 years), but it was still much shorter than Noah and the other ancient patriarchs. After Abraham and Isaac (180 years), lifespans were on the overall downward trend. Jacob was about 147 years, Joseph 110. And some people didn't live very long.
So, is it possible that 1 God-hour is 1 generation? Definitely.
