Supreme Court Nominee

I'm getting tired of the political theatrics constantly being played by the Democrats and the Republicans.

Brett Kavanaugh seems like he would do a good job as a Supreme Court Justice.

Did you really do what his accusers say he did, from so long ago?

It's possible.

Should events from over 30 years ago affect him now? 

Maybe if they were within the last 10-15 years.

I'm not minimizing the gravity of the accusations. It's unfortunate the accusers never filed any police reports or any complaints. And, it appears that the incidents all involved alcohol.

Those who are "without sin" from over 30 years ago--in high school or early college--should be the ones who should throw their stones.

But whether Kavanaugh did or did not do those things, what should be of greater importance is what he has been like during the last 10-15 years. That is more telling about how he will be on the Supreme Court.

However, it's become a political stage.

The Democrats are mad at losing their nominee in Obama's final years. Now it's pay back. They see this as an opportunity to turn the tables.

They wouldn't make such a big deal about it, except they see the likely chance of gaining a majority in the Senate this coming election. If they do, then they outright reject all Supreme Court nominees, unless they approve of the nominee.

I don't see how Kavanaugh will get approved.

The Democrats are trying to stand on a moral high ground, when most of them are probably just as guilty (or more so) of sins from 30+ years ago. And many of them (as well as many Republicans) are probably guilty of misconduct in more recent years.

If Kavanaugh were to be approved, then we might have a conservative court for the next several years. 

But, as I pointed out in another post, the likely retiring--or deaths--of judges over the next decade could easily shift strongly liberal.

I think the liberals know that, but they want to assure that. Of course, they don't want the public to know, so they make a big deal about how the court will become ultra-conservative for decades.
