The Lord tells us to follow the prophet

Yes, we must learn to be guided by the Spirit. This is absolutely essential, and will become critical as our world spirals into greater wickedness.

This post is for those who believe following the living prophet is not important, or of lesser importance. Here are the Lord's words regarding his oracles (his prophets):
"And all they who receive the oracles of God, let them beware how they hold them lest they are accounted as a light thing, and are brought under condemnation thereby, and stumble and fall when the storms descend, and the winds blow, and the rains descend, and beat upon their house." (D&C 90:5).
To me, this is clearly speaking to those who claim to accept (receive) a prophet, but don't support the prophet by not following the prophet's counsels. These people take prophetic counsel lightly, or don't think it applies to them. They are too busy with their own way of thinking, or think they know better.

The verb "sustain" means to hold, to bear up, to support in any condition. Seems clear the Lord is telling his people to sustain his prophet.

The Lord does not tell us to put our faith in the prophet instead of the guidance of the Spirit. The Lord doesn't tell us to lean on the prophet's testimony and faith, and to not get develop our own.

To those who talks lightly about the Lord's prophet, and this includes murmuring or complaining about changes, need to take the Lord's own words into consideration: Beware how you sustain the prophet, or take prophetic counsel lightly in your life.

The physical and spiritual storms are increasing in frequency and intensity.

The truth of the words of our prophet can be confirmed to us by the Spirit. But, we can't get that confirmation if we are not doing what we are supposed to do. If we are relying on our own wisdom, or the wisdom and knowledge of man, to get our answers we cannot receive answers to spiritual questions.

I have yet to find any of the Lord's words in his scriptures that contradict prophetic counsel and guidance, or to hear any prophet speak contrary to the words of the Lord that we have in the scriptures.

In a week, another great General Conference will be here. What words will our prophet speak to us?
