Another Tie between the Church and Scouting is Going Away

This article caught my attention, "LDS Church discontinues leadership conferences at Philmont Scout Ranch." https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900004968/lds-church-discontinues-its-annual-leadership-conferences-at-philmont-scout-ranch.html I went to Philmont one September a number of years ago to renew my COPE certification (my certification has long since expired). I'd actually forgotten about that until I was reading the article. It was a fun experience. Anyway, there is a perfectly logical explanation for the discontinuation. The announcement was in a letter sent to Area Seventies and stake and district presidents of the Church. Part of the letter states: “As part of an ongoing effort to reduce demands made upon leaders and simplify the programs of the church, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve have determined it appropriate to discontinue the annual Priesthood Leadership Conference on Scouting held at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexi...

Reminder for Preparedness: Get Food Storage

I started this post back during September, which was National Preparedness Month. We have been getting frequent reminders of natural disasters through reports on hurricanes, fires, flooding, and other disasters. These should equate to reminders to get our own preparations in order. Besides the big news stories, there are other problems boiling around the world. Drought conditions, fires, flooding, and pests are destroying crops in many locations. Most of us take food for granted. We take grocery shopping for granted: we head to a store, pick up food, and take it home. Too many families do not even have a week's worth of food in their home. Somewhere I recall that most have only a few days worth of food on hand, especially when you consider most families eat out a lot. Unfortunately, too many people believe the government, the Church, or even neighbors (who supposedly have food storage) will come in to save the day where food and supplies are needed in emergency situations. ...

AI Drones: a possible future of autonomous killing machines

Image
Something to think about. I watched this video linked on this site:  http://www.sciencealert.com/chilling-drone-video-shows-a-disturbing-vision-of-an-ai-controlled-future The video reminded me of my thought a few years ago that small drones could be the locusts John writes about in Revelation chapter 9. I'm not saying the locusts are drones, only that some of the description could easily be applicable to small drones. Here's a few verses, with comments and added emphasis: 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.  [sounds like the locusts are programmed to target certain people]  5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months...

One of my favorite sites

Image
While there are a number of websites I frequent, there is one I go to almost everyday to watch it's short news: http://www.suspicious0bservers.org/ I first discovered the site a few years ago, and then rediscovered it in the summer of 2015. https://youtu.be/b-t783yi3TE   It is science based, but the Observers are not stuck in mainstream theories. They are open to other possibilities and explanations, which means mainstream science generally looks down on it. References and articles are from credible sources. What has been most interesting is how closely tied the sun, earth, and even other planets are. The earth is not isolated and unaffected by other planetary, solar, and cosmic events. Which means we, as inhabitants of earth, are also affected by these events. As the earthquake prediction model gets more refined, maybe it will add to possible warnings for us before the great earthquakes start striking the North American continent. Someday I'll probably list sever...

How the NWO might happen in the wake of earthquakes

The globalists want a New World Order, and that NWO is most likely being planned to coincide with an attack on and invasion of the United States of America, which is part of the beginning of World War III. Because of the various policies, and weakening of military forces due to the many wars being fought, a nuclear attack on the US (with the current absorb the first strike before returning fire policy), with simultaneous EMP strikes, would bring America to its knees. The leaders will claim the need for the country to join with others against their common enemy, because America is unable to defend itself without the help of others. But what if the earthquakes happen first? If the sequence of events described in Visions of Glory, and other visions and dreams, happens, America will not be able to provide for its own people. Page 129 of Visions of Glory provides a clue as to how the globalists would quickly change tactics to use the devastation and natural disasters as excuses to joi...

The Coming Utah Earthquakes - updated 28 Nov 2017

There have a been a number of sources citing two earthquakes happening in Utah, with the first being a "big one" (probably in the 6.9 to 7.3 range), and a later much larger quake (I often refer to it as a mega-quake, and it would probably be in the high 9 magnitude, maybe higher).  Some say the first big quake will be in the fall, and the second in the spring. Others claim the first quake will happen in the spring, with bigger quake in the fall.  However, I'm not sure now many of those who have had dreams or visions of these quakes were actually told a specific season when earthquake would actually happen, or if they came to their own conclusion (interpretation) based on what they saw in the dream/vision regarding the season. There are a lot of fall days that could be spring-like, and spring days which are similar to autumn, particularly when it comes to temperature and precipitation. What if the person who had the dream was told the first quake would happen in a pr...

The Coming Crash

Earlier this year I was fairly certain we would be seeing a stock market crash in 2018. Most of my reasoning is this would be used to motivate voters to oust the Republican majority in the midterm elections. However, the economy is on such shaky foundations that I think the globalists really don't want to do anything to agitate the system--until they are ready--as it may cause a bigger collapse than they want right now. With the recent election bringing more Democrats into power I think the globalists may try to see if the 2018 election can be swayed without resorting to the economy card. And with the anti-Trump sentiment, failure of the Republicans to work together, continuing and increasing allegations of sexual misconduct towards more and more public figures, and the likely failure (or passage) of the tax reform, there may be enough momentum for the Democrats to regain control of one or both houses of Congress next year, without bringing in economic issues. As a side note, ...

Back to musings

It's been a busy past month, and my written musings on this site have taken back burner priority. Currently, there are 32 posts in draft format, waiting for me to finish them.

What's next? -- updated 10 November 2017

Hurricane Harvey - Aug 24 (regained hurricane status) - Sep 1 Mexico Earthquake 8.1 -- Sep 7 Hurricane Irma -- Aug 30 (developed) - Sep 16 (most damages Sep 7-11) Hurricane Maria -- Sep 18 - 30 (struck Puerto Rico Sep 20) Mexico earthquake 7.1 (after shock from the 8.1) -- Sep 19 Las Vegas Shooting -- Oct 1, 2017 Wildfires in California -- Oct 10- (the above list is not complete) The wildfires are getting under control. So... What's next? I say this because it seems something big happens about every week or two since the eclipse. My guess, probably another earthquake. Seeing as California has its Great Shake-out earthquake drill yesterday (10/19/2017), they may be the most likely to get a quake. But there has been some other unusual tremor activity. Maybe we'll get a few weeks (or longer) with a break. Although if you look at news around the world, there are a lot of disasters which go unreported in the US. --update 10 November 2017 When I wrote the abov...

Energy of Heart

Moroni 7:48 (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/moro/7?lang=eng) "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, a pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true b followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall c be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be d purified even as he is pure. Amen." Several months ago I caught the nuance of the wording in this verse. Before, my mind would generally interpret the statement as "pray unto the Father with all the energy of your heart" But it says, "all the energy of heart" which is interesting. It implies that the heart is more than a blood pump. It supplies energy to the body. This is also one of the few verses I've been able to able to find with the word "energy," which is "power exerted" ( http://we...

Anger, the tipping point of Pride to Destruction

Yesterday (10/15/2017) I gave a talk in sacrament meeting. The following is the text from the talk. The actual talk was mostly what follows, although I did make a few minor changes or additions on-the-fly so I wasn't reading the talk the whole time. ------ As I’m sure many of you who have, or have had, young children in your home while trying to watch and listen to conference, you know that it can be a challenge. It’s a challenge for kids to get through four general sessions of conference. It’s a challenge to keep the children entertained in a quiet activity so you can get something out of most, or at least some, of the talks. Too often the reality is when the session is done, you may be trying to remember who actually spoke, not to mention what they might have said. After two days, four sessions of two hours each, it can feel like herding cats. Interestingly, the word “session” has its origin in Old French which refers to the “act or state of sitting,” and the ...

Halloween -- updated 10 Nov 2017

Halloween. It used to be one of my favorite holidays. I had quite the elaborate setup, with a tunnel, dragon, smoke machines. At times I had a dementor hanging overhead. The last several times I set things up, I used a projector to projector flames on the side of the house. My brother would often come to help out. We had a lot of fun. The beginnings happened years before my mission. Our family would get into the fun of decorating, and making a fun spook house. We (and I) have never been into any of the horror, terror, blood, etc. so it was all about having fun, with a little bit of a scare. It continued after I graduated from college. First as I helped make a corn maze into a more Halloween event. Then it started to really grow when I was taking care of my parents home while they were overseas. I came up with new ideas and built new things. This continued through the early 2000's After getting married, the first couple years was as I described in the first paragraph. I'...

Another change in the BSA (updated 10/17/2017)

It was an expected change for the Boy Scouts of America, to begin allowing girls into its programs. https://www.ksl.com/?sid=46125082&nid=157&title=in-historic-change-boy-scouts-to-let-girls-in-some-programs Beginning in 2018 (coincidentally when the LDS Church will stop registering its older boys--14 and older--in Varsity and Venture units), the BSA will allow for girls in Cub Scouting, in all-girls dens. The Packs, at the option of the chartering organization, can have either single gender or have dens of both genders. But despite what the BSA may claim, the primary reason for this change is financial. From the mentioned article on KSL: "The Girl Scouts of the USA criticized the initiative, saying it strained the century-old bond between the two organizations. Girl Scout officials have suggested the BSA's move was driven partly by financial problems and a need to boost revenue. "In August, the president of the Girl Scouts accused the Boy Scouts of seek...
