Follow-up to Last Days vs End Days -- Hour of Judgment
There are a couple of references to time I should mention, which relate to the last days and end days.
First, Revelation 8:1 was mentioned in the earlier post http://fulnessoftimes.blogspot.com/2017/08/last-days-vs-end-times.html
"And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour."
If this "half an hour" is referencing heaven's time, then it is almost 21 earth years (20.83 years) long.
At the end of verse 84 in section 88 of the Doctrine and Covenants it states, "and to prepare the saints for the hour of judgment which is to come."
In this verse, what does "hour of judgment" mean?
Certainly, the "hour of judgment" refers to a short period of time, such as the time when a wicked nation/city/people is/are destroyed. It could be a literal hour as we understand it, or it could be a metaphorical time. Often it is understood to be the time when the Savior returns at his Second Coming, when the earth is burned.
But, what if (at least in some scriptural cases) it refers to a heavenly time period?
If the "hour of judgment" is referencing heaven's time, it would be 41.67 of our years.
In the earlier post, I suggested a rough and broad timeline of the last Jubilee period that would last from 2008 to 2057.
So, where would the "half an hour" and "hour" fit in?
I think the "half an hour" is most likely part of the "hour of judgment." But, while it would be convenient if it were the first or second half-hour, most likely it is just part of the hour. And it probably has a flexible starting time, depending on how events play out during that hour.
A "silence in heaven" could suggest a waiting for events to culminate. It might mean that due to the increased wickedness in the world at that time there is little revelation, or "silence" from heaven. Because this is at the opening of the seventh seal, I think it is most likely to start about the time the righteous and faithful saints are gathered from among the wicked, and the plagues and devastation of America begins. In the rough timeline, that may be around 2024.
If the 21-year ("half an hour") period starts around 2024, there are a couple of interesting events.
First, in early 2024 (in April) is the next total solar eclipse. That eclipse does not cross the entire United States, but it does cross several states. Here's my post on the 2017 and 2024 eclipse paths http://fulnessoftimes.blogspot.com/2017/02/coming-total-solar-eclipses-in-2017-and.html
Add 21 years to 2024 and we come to 2045. Interestingly, on August 12, 2045 is the next total solar eclipse that crosses America from coast to coast. Revelation 8:1 states "about the space of half an hour." 20.83 years is about 20 years and almost 10 months, and from April 2024 to August 2045 it is 21 years and 4 months. So, while it's not exact, it could be considered "about." Even if the "half an hour" starts by the end of 2024, it would still be a close 21 years to the 2045 eclipse.
So, where does the "hour of judgment" fit in?
Assuming that the Jubilee year beginning in September 2057 and lasting into 2058 most likely concludes the "hour" period of 41.67-ish years, then the "hour of judgment" probably began in either late 2015 or in 2016. Interestingly when you consider the Blood Moon hype that was going on in the latter half of 2015, or when you think about the acceleration of increasingly intense international events.
Anyway, just some musings I had today. I saw that verse in D&C 88, thoughts started sparking, and I had to write things down.
