Difficult to see, the future is.
Regarding future events, Yoda said "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future."
We have images of major future events in the scriptures, and we can use past events (in the scriptures and history) to model possibilities and likely events of the future. Some are gifted with the ability to see in dreams or visions images and clips of future events.
But the actual timing and timeline of events is, I believe, in most cases variable.
The Second Coming is a fixed time event, that is I believe there is nothing we can do to make that day come any sooner than it will.
But other events and when they will actually occur may have some variability to them. For example, a city threatened with destruction may be spared by the prayers of the righteous and, when the righteous are cast out or leave, the city receives its judgment.
I am very interested in dreams and visions, but I am not one to jump to conclusions and make assumptions about their meaning or timing.
Many times dreams and visions are symbolic. Sometimes they are literal. Others are both.
Remember the principle of stewardship. While dreams and visions are interesting, only those with priesthood stewardship (this includes mothers of families and women leaders of organizations in the Church) have the right to receive inspiration and revelation for those under their stewardship.
Simply put, only the prophet has the right to receive revelation for the Church.
Be wary of those who claim to know the timing and timeline of future events. They may get some things right (especially if the event is in the near future) which is often the reason they are able to lead others astray. Or others convince that person to stray from the path, lifting that person up as a prophet, or as someone who knows more than the prophet of the Church.
Dreams and visions are interesting. But if they are not in the scriptures or shared by the prophet or an apostle, then they should not be taken as scripture.
The most important thing is for us to become prepared spiritually and physically. Becoming spiritually prepared can help guide us in physical preparations. Physical preparedness will help us survive. Spiritual preparations will help us thrive.
Over the past few years the messages shared with us by our prophet and the apostles have essentially centered around becoming spiritually prepared. The membership of the Church is in the millions, spread around the world, and too diverse to give much specific counsel where physical preparedness is concerned. But spiritual preparedness is fairly universal.
Spiritual preparedness is absolutely essential if we don't want to be led astray and if we want to be led in our preparations.
Spiritual preparedness can also help us know what we should do and when. This preparation can help us to know if we need to stay or flee before an event occurs. And the answer can be different for different people.
