Those who followed Lucifer (post updated 16 Oct 2017)

This post will be almost entirely my own thoughts and opinion. Like some other posts, I do occasionally make some additions to this post. For some reason, I got thinking this morning about how there are evil spirits (devils, if you will) of differing strength. Just like mortals have differing abilities and strengths, those spirits who chose to follow Lucifer also had different talents, abilities, and strengths. Then I was wondering about Lucifer's plan, and why so many--a third--of the hosts of heaven would follow his plan. We have always had the freedom to choose. In heaven, with our unveiled knowledge and experience with the Father and our eternal family, there wasn't likely any desire to do, or even to choose to do, that which was contrary to the laws of heaven. If someone did choose to not follow the laws, undoubtedly there were immediate consequences. But I suspect it probably didn't happen, that is, I doubt there were those who did not follow the laws of heaven ...

August 2017 Global Climate Report

Image
This is the global climate report found in most media reports. Lots of red. Note the white areas. Here's the real temperature map: You can see the white areas are actually supposed to be blue, which is cooler temperatures. If you look closely, you can see the media's climate map has larger square sections than the actual map. This is what has happened. In order to perpetuate a global warming story, the image needs to be more red. So, lots of the blue is removed from the map. Then the areas are averaged together into larger squares. That way it looks like there is more red. This map averaging happens almost every month with the climate report. Sometimes more blue is removed (like this map), and sometimes there isn't as much "missing" data. But, the smaller areas are almost always averaged with adjoining areas in whatever way can make it look like there is more red. Global warming is a story made up in an effort to control the population. It provides a...

Another Cat 5 hurricane

Image
Hurricane Maria is a category 5 storm. Currently it's projected to clip the Dominican Republic, go by the Bahamas, and miss Floriday, but possibly strike the US coast further north. Hurricane Jose, just a category 1 storm, is currently churning up waves along the eastern seaboard. While it may seem unrelated, Thursday or Friday a big sunspot group will be just turning onto the earth-facing side of the sun. It will take a few more days for it to directly face earth. Why is this relevant? Because this is the same sunspot group that created some big x-class flares a couple weeks ago. These flares apparently have an intensifying effect on storms (such as hurricanes), and can cause them to move westward (I'm not sure why). Jose will be east of New York, out in the ocean by the end of the week. Or, at least what is projected to be left of it. Maria will be off the eastern shores (storm projections from http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at2.shtml?cone#contents) Miami w...

Another Quake in Mexico

Just over an hour ago, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck south of Mexico City. Because the city was built on an old lake bed, and the ground isn't very solid, it will probably cause a lot of damage. A 19 September 1985 earthquake, centered 220 miles away on the coast, was 8.0 magnitude. A 7.1 aftershock struck the next day. At least 5,000 people died in the 1985 quake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_Mexico_City_earthquake Some sources say there were more than 9,500 deaths. Now, 32 years later on the same day a closer earthquake shakes the city. It may end up causing more damage than the 8.0 because today's quake is so much closer. But it's also almost a full magnitude smaller, so it may not be quite as bad. What if it's a foreshock? Ten days ago, just south of the coast of Mexico, an 8.1 struck. That quake was much farther away than today's. So, is today's 7.1 an aftershock of Sep. 9th's earthquake? Or, is it a separate earthquake? Other quak...

Idlers and Greediness

Yesterday I was reading D&C section 68. In verse 30, the Lord told the inhabitants of Zion to "remember their labors...in all faithfulness." Then in verse 31 the Lord states: "Now, I, the Lord, am not well pleased with the inhabitants of Zion, for there are idlers among them; and their children are also growing up in wickedness; they also seek not earnestly the riches of eternity, but their eyes are full of greediness." Unfortunately, the members of the Church, as a whole, have fallen back into this state. Not all of them, but a majority could probably fit into one of these four categories: Those who are idle, who do not perform their labors faithfully. Those whose children are "growing up in wickedness."  Those who are not seeking "earnestly" after "the riches of eternity". Those whose eyes "are full of greediness." Regarding the teaching of children, section 68 is the same section where in verses 25-28 t...

A Parable from the Times and Seasons

While doing research for my Revelation 12 post, I came across this web page, which compares the iron rod and the holy grail: http://exmormon.org.uk/tol_arch/whyprophets/prophets/simple/iron_rod.htm I found it interesting and have copied the text of the Parable quoted from the Times and Seasons, volume 6, page 846. I did some research and found the reference at  http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cdm/ref/collection/NCMP1820-1846/id/9684 The Times and Seasons Vol. 6, No. 5, March 15, 1845, page 846 "A Parable" There was a day when a certain great king proposed a marriage for his son, prepared a dinner, and proffered to bequeath to his son one of his provinces, on the day of the marriage. The woman that was to be the bride was very fair and beautiful, her adorning was that of a crown with twelve precious diamonds set there and placed upon her head, holding in her hand a reflecting rod, by which the bright rays of the sun was brought to reflect upon the diamonds, giving light...

Revelation 12

What follows is my interpretation of Revelation chapter 12. As a reference, here are the links I used to get the text for Revelation 12 and the Joseph Smith Translation (JST) for Revelation 12 https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/rev/12?lang=eng https://www.lds.org/scriptures/jst/jst-rev/12.html?lang=eng It is my opinion that while many of the chapters in the book of Revelation are most likely in order of occurrence, there are chapters of a more expository nature. The intent of these expository chapters (and in some cases verses) is to provide some background, history, or other relevant information. Chapter 12 is one of these chapters that contains a lot of explanatory material. Revelation 12 JST Revelation 12 1  a And  there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a  b woman  clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 1  And there appeared a great  sign  in heaven,  in the likenes...
