Worse is coming

 Here's something to keep in mind. Worse illness will be coming.

If you read the scriptures you can find plenty of references for plagues that are coming before the Lord returns. And, no, I don't think COVID (at least none of it's current variants) qualifies as a scriptural plague. But I do believe it's supposed to wake us up and get better prepared.

I love science. But I'm not one to fall down and worship the latest and greatest discovery or "proof" that is being pushed.

If it's not clear from previous posts, I'm not a big proponent of getting the COVID vaccine. I completely respect anyone's choice to receive it, just as I expect them to respect my choice to not get it. I've had COVID. I believe natural resistance is better and more adaptable than science-created (i.e. man created) immunity. And everyone needs to seek for personal revelation about what is best for their bodies.

My concern is there is not enough push and awareness for real health and wellness, for what really works especially for the long term.

The health guidance in the Word of Wisdom (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/89?lang=eng) should be followed. Most in the Church look at the don'ts (don't drink alcohol, don't use tobacco, don't drink coffee, etc.) but they gloss over or ignore what should be done, and what we should be eating.

One of those I mentioned in my follow the prophet post (https://fulnessoftimes.blogspot.com/2021/06/when-do-follow-prophet.html). I hear a lot of Church members who justify taking the vaccine (and telling others to do so) because the prophet did. And because the First Presidency is encouraging vaccinations.

But, this was not a revelatory guidance/statement. Yet many Church members see it as such. And most of those same Church members probably eat way too much meat, even though the Prophet is known to not eat meat. And the Word of Wisdom states that meat should be eaten sparingly.

Yes, we should follow prophetic guidance and counsel, but we are also counselled (by the prophet) to seek personal revelation. And we must remember the prophet and apostles are all men and are not perfect.

Anyway, I digress.

The point is worse illnesses are coming. They may be variants, new, lab-created, or pathogens that were locked away in the permafrost and re-released into the world. Wherever they originate from, the scriptures are clear that plagues are coming.

If one only heeds the "don'ts" of the Word of Wisdom, but ignores the "Do's" they cannot expect the promises. Here are the promises, in verses 18 to 21:

18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.

21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

And while you improve your diet, remember the physical activity. It's difficult to "run and not be weary" or to "walk and not faint" if you never run or walk.

Without long-term health and wellness, the coming illnesses could potentially be worse for both those who become ill and those who survive and experience long-term effects from the illness.
